- All shows include professionally trained
Fire Safety personnel, - Fire equipment is frequently inspected to
make sure all parts are safe and secure, - The Fueling station is kept at a safe
distance from the performance area, - Fire toys that are not in use are kept next
to the fuel area and away from
passageways, - All fuel is kept in resealable and marked
metal containers, - All fuel is kept covered when not in use,
- Excess fuel is dripped off and returned to
it's original container, - There is a fire extinguisher present and
ready to be used, - There is a Duvateyne and first aid kit
available, - The audience is kept at a safe distance
from the flame, - There is No smoking near the fuel station,
- The performance space is marked off,
- Permits are obtained when required,
- Clothing is Fire suitable,
- All additional safety precautions are taken
into consideration based on each
individual situation.

This is the pre-requisite for fire dancing and consists of a 2 part training.
The successful completion of this training also qualifies opportunities for
paid safety jobs with Obsidian Butterfly and Fire Rising. The training is
offered for those who express interest in either helping with Obsidian
Butterfly Fire Safety or those interested in Fire Dancing.
The first part of the training is done class room setting to learn all of the
basics of fire safety. The second part is hands on learning within a variety
of different settings.
This class is offered once a year during the months of January to June of
each year to qualify safeties for the year to come.
With successful completion of the Safety Training course the student will
have logged 50 hours of training and be proficient in Fire Safety as
related to Fire Arts according to local laws and NAFAA.
